Last Week in Chiang Mai

Hey Everyone! This is the first of a couple of posts with some photos from last week when David and I were still in Chiang Mai, taking some seminary classes. We had five days of class, lasting from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.--all lectures. It was pretty exhausting sitting in lectures for that long, but I can't imagine how hard it must have been for our professor, who came all the way from the states and was suffering jet-lag the whole time. But the content in the class made it very, very worthwhile. It was a survey class on Genesis through Joshua, and I really do feel like I know so much more about that part of the Old Testament now! So, in the evenings we would unwind by going out to dinner and enjoying some of the great Thai and western restaurants that Chiang Mai offers.
Above, David and I are enjoying one of our favorite restaurants in Chiang Mai, called Duke's. It is owned by a family from Chicago, and the food is authentic American, and a huge treat for us! We sat outside overlooking the night bazaar, Chiang Mai's most famous attraction.

The above three photos show David and I sitting inside and standing outside a "song tao"--basically a converted pick-up truck that has a cover and benches built in the back and serves as the cheapest form of "taxi" in many parts of Thailand.

This is a photo of me, my teammate Ellie, my best friend Erin-Ashley, and another teammate Alisa. Thursday night of last week, we all went out for a ladies night on the town. We ate french food at a little cafe, and then went to the night bazaar to do some shopping. I have bought some things at this market in years past, but this year the exchange rate makes everything so much more expensive, so I couldn't bring myself to buy anything. But it was still fun to go out with the girls and shop!
